Court Presentation Ensemble
Boué Soeurs
1928
Presentation at the Court of Saint James’s was a momentous social accomplishment for many women. The Boué Soeurs costume, which was worn by Mrs.George Henry O’Neil, the former Bertha Fadelhan Drake, for presentation before George V in June 1928, has a train, headdress, and fan, all made to conform to the dress rules that governed the occasion at the time. The train is detachable so that the dress could quite easily be worn for dancing after the court ceremonies had concluded. Though the robe de style silhouette, with its structural panniers, is reminiscent of the eighteenth century, the dress’s body-obliterating shape and light, translucent layers reveal its twentieth-century origins

Team April

With the way things ended i’m sure there’s a sequel to this book. I am still not over about the twist of the story. I’m not happy with the way things ended. Leaving us hanging like that is one of the reasons.

I’m just going to be honest and admit that i am hoping that if there will be a second book that April and Luke will still get together somehow. The way JJ build up Luke’s relationship between April and Holly. I was more convinced with April. And the twist towards the end shocked me, disappointed me sure. But because of how convinced I am with Luke and April’s fling, romance whatever you call it, i’m hoping.

Reading a twist, disappointments, and a non happy ending (well for me) should not have shocked me. This book being promoted by the one author who likes flaws with her characters and the one who doesn’t like a happy ending Tarryn Fisher (that’s why she’s one of my favorites by the way) I should’ve have known better than to expect a happy ending and perfect characters. Now that I have that clear in my head. I understand why JJ wrote April’s character that way.

And is it too early and assuming to say i’m Team April? :)
